The Bet Types
The TOTE offers the following Bet Types through its agency agreement with Betfair. Below is a brief description of each Bet Type on offer for further information please visit www.thetote.com.au.
Win
A Win bet is picking the first placegetter in a race. You can select a win bet on all races
Place
A place bet pays if your runner comes in first, second or third.
Please note
- Eight or more starters at the official scratching time allows for dividends to be paid for first, second and third placing.
- Seven, six or five starters at the official scratching time allows for dividends to be paid for first and second placing only
- There is no place betting where a race has four or less starters at the official scratching time
Quinella
A Quinella is a bet on the first two place getters in any one race. Your chosen two runners can come first and second in any order.
A Multiple Quinella is where three or more runners are chosen, from which any two may finish first and second in any order.
Exacta
An Exacta is a bet on the first two place getters in any one race. Unlike the Quinella the Exacta must be chosen in the exact order or placing.
A Standout Exacta is a bet where you choose one runner that must come first (The Standout) and two or more runners that must come second.
A Multiple Exacta is a bet where more than one runner can be chosen to come first with different runners nominated to finish second.
A Boxed Exacta is a bet where two or more runners may finish first and second in any order.
Trifecta
A Trifecta is a bet on the first three place getters in any one race. The selected runners are required to finish in the order nominated.
A Standout Trifecta is a bet where a runner is selected to finish first (The Standout) is combined with two or more other runners to finish second and third in order.
A Box Trifecta is where three or more runners are chosen to finish first, second and third in any order.
Daily Double
A Daily Double is a bet on the first place getters in two individual races nominated by The TOTE.
A Multiple Double is where any number of runners are chosen to win the first or second leg of the Daily double.
The term leg is used in reference to the individual races that makeup the Daily Double Bet Type. The Daily double has two legs.
In the event of a scratched selection, the substitute runner will be used as a replacement. A substitute runner is the runner with the greatest relative amount of money invested on it after all Investments have been received and collated following the close/sell time of the Event concerned.
If the meeting has been abandoned after the first leg, a special dividend is paid for those who have selected the winner of the first leg.
Quadrella
A Quadrella is a bet on the first place getters in four individual races nominated by The TOTE.
A Multiple Quadrella is where any number of runners are chosen to win the first, second, third or fourth leg of the Daily double.
The term leg is used in reference to the individual races that makeup the Quadrella Bet Type. The Quadrella has four legs.
In the event of a scratched selection, the substitute runner will be used as a replacement. A substitute runner is the runner with the greatest relative amount of money invested on it after all Investments have been received and collated following the close/sell time of the Event concerned.
If the meeting has been abandoned prior to the last leg, a special dividend is paid for those who have selected the winner of the completed legs.
